child health are elicited at the Welfare Centres, and
such of this information as is readily available is submitted
in the maternity and child welfare section of
this report. It is hoped to extract more in future
years.
With the foregoing qualifications and limitations,
the statistics of births, deaths and marriages are submitted
as a general indication of the trend of things
in the borough. Possibly, with a more progressive
national conception of Public Health, the Medical Officer
of Health may one day be placed in organic relation
with all the chief agencies concerned with health in his
district. He will then be in a position to collect and
collate all the essential information to enable him to
report fully as to the vital (physical) welfare of the
community under his care.
