Provision of New Accommodation.
During the year 1962 construction of the following 147 new dwellings was completed:—

Slum Clearance.
During the year, one area (Doddington Road South) which formed
part of the Battersea Park Road Area was represented for slum clearance,
Thirty-five houses were inspected and all were represented as unfit.
Compulsory Purchase Orders in respect of twelve small areas, containing 53 dwellings in the Winstanley Road district, which had been
made by the Council in 1961, were confirmed by the Minister of
Housing and Local Government following a Public Inquiry. These
Areas were as follows:—
Creek Street Nos. 1 and 3 Areas.
Grant Road Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Areas.
Lavender Road Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 Areas.
Meyrick Road, Nos. 2, 3 and 4 Areas.
Inspections made during 1962 in connection with slum clearance
totalled 174.
Closing Orders.
Under Section 17 of the Housing Act, 1957, one Closing Order in
respect of a dwelling house was made during the year; 6 underground
room and 2 rooms in other parts of dwellings were closed under
Section 18 of the Act.
