Housing.Provision of New Accommodation. During the year 1958 construction of the following 79 new dwellings was completed:—

Closing Orders.
Under Section 17 of the Housing Act, 1957, 36 Closing Orders in
respect of dwelling houses were made during the year, and 52 basement
rooms and 2 other parts of dwelling houses were closed under Section 18
of the Act.
Demolition Orders.
No Demolition Orders under Section 17 of the Housing Act, 1957.
were made during the year.

In comparison with 1957, the volume of work did not decrease
as although the number of applications by tenants for Certificates of
Disrepair declined in the latter part of the year, this was offset by
the number of applications from landlords and tenants for certificates
relating to undertakings given by landlords, and by applications from
landlords for cancellation of Certificates of Disrepair.
