TUBERCULOSIS.
During the year 1955 there were 129 cases of tuberculosis (all
forms) notified in Battersea as compared with 140 in 1954, 165 in
1953, 188 in 1952, 162 in 1951 and 149 in 1950.
In addition 80 cases were reported or otherwise came to the
knowledge of the Medical Officer of Health, making a total of 209
cases for the year.
The case rate per 100,000 population was 183.8.
The tables on page 16 give details in age groups of the 209 cases.
Deaths from Tuberculosis.
During 1955 deaths from tuberculosis registered as belonging to
the Borough of Battersea numbered 14, and were all due to pulmonary
tuberculosis.
The death rate per 100,000 of the population during the 50 years
ended 1950 in quinquennial averages and the years 1951, 1952, 1953,
1954 and 1955 are given in the following table:-
