with 108.3 in 1931, 100.8 in 1930, 127.3 in 1929, 98.1 in 1928
and 103.6 in 1927. The lowest death-rates were in 1926, when it
was 96.6 and in 1928 when it was 98.1 per 100,000 population.
During 1932 deaths from Tuberculosis registered as belonging
to the Borough of Battersea numbered 164, 141 (i.e. 86 per cent.)
being due to pulmonary tuberculosis, 12 (i.e. 7.3 per cent.) to
tubercular meningitis and 11 (i.e. 6.7 per cent.) to other forms of the
disease.
The allocation of the deaths in 1932 according to age and sex,
and in the Wards and Sub-Districts is shown on pp. 54 and 55.
In 1931 the number of deaths from tubercular diseases was 173
and it will be noted that there was a decrease in 1932 in the mortality
from Tuberculosis as compared with the previous year.
Of the 164 deaths registered from Tuberculosis during the
year 16 cases were not notified until one month before death;
in 19* cases the notifications were received after death, and in 18
cases no notification was received.
Of the 18 cases in respect of which no primary notification
was received 13 (10 pulmonary, 3 non-pulmonary) were patients
who died in hospitals or infirmaries. Of the remaining 5 cases
3 (1 pulmonary, 2 non-pulmonary) were under treatment by
private medical practitioners; and 2 (pulmonary) were the subjects
of post-mortem examination and enquiry by the Coroner,
without inquest.
Of the 19* cases notified after death 10 (2 pulmonary, 8 nonpulmonary)
were from Public Assistance Institutions; 4 (1 pulmonary,
3 non-pulmonary) died in mental hospitals, of which they
were old inmates, and the remaining 5 cases (1 pulmonary, 4 nonpulmonary)
died in other hospitals.

The death-rates per 100,000 of the population during the 30 years ended 1930 in quinquennial averages and in the individual years 1931 and 1932 are given in the following table:—
