Deaths in Public Institutions.
During 1932 the deaths of Battersea residents occurring in
Public Institutions numbered 1,073. Of this number 563 occurred
within and 510 outside the Borough. Of the total Battersea
deaths in Institutions 739 occurred in Public Assistance
Institutions.
Senile Mortality.
During 1932 the deaths of 898 residents of Battersea aged 65
years and upwards were registered. The distribution of these
deaths which constituted 47.4 per cent. of the deaths at all ages
is set out in the following table:—

Infant Mortality.
During 1932 the deaths of 134 infants were registered as belonging
to Battersea. The total number of births registered during
the year was 2,319, giving an infant mortality rate of 57.8 per
1,000 births, as compared with 57.3 in 1931, 54.7 in 1930, 62.6 in
1929, and 64.2 in 1928.

The distribution of the 134 infant deaths and the infant mor-tality-rates for the registration Sub-Districts and the Wards, are shown in the following table: —
