BIRTHS.
The number of births registered in the Borough during 1932
was 2,649 (1,402 males, 1,247 females), an excess of 155 males.
Of this number, 698 were transferred out, the permanent residence
of the parents being outside the Borough, and 368, registered outside
the Borough, were transferred here, giving on balance a total of
2,319 births (1,202 male, 1,117 female) relating to Battersea residents,
and a corrected birth-rate of 14.8 per 1,000 of the population.
This is a decrease on that of 1931, and the birth-rate is the lowest
so far recorded in Battersea.
