PERSONAL HYGIENE
Of 14,123 (14,616) children seen during comprehensive surveys 226 (178) were
found to be verminous. Inspections during selective surveys numbered 8,114 (7,862) wh«n
486 (293) children were found to be verminous.
BATHING CENTRE
Children attended the bathing centre on 537 (680) occasions, when 91 (212) cases
of scabies and 445 (468) verminous cases were treated. One case of impetigo was also
treated.
There is still clearly a need for vigilance on the part of all concerned.
REMEDIAL FOOT CLASSES
With the continued co-operation of the head teachers, remedial classes were held in
8 primary schools and 173 (225) children were treated by teachers who have attended
special classes at the College of Physical Education. Overall supervision was given by a
medical officer who visited each class at regular intervals.
