Mass Radiography
Prior to the appointed day (5th July, 1948) under
the National Health Service Act, mass radiography was
undertaken by the London County Council. Under the new
Health Act, this work was transferred to Regional Hospital
Boards.
In 1950, the North-West Metropolitan Regional Hospital
Board requested the Council to co-operate in providing
facilities to enable an X-ray unit to function in Kensington.
It was agreed to make available accommodation in the Royal
Palace Hotel for a major session of three to four weeks.
In addition, two short period sessions were arranged, one
at the Royal College of Arts and one at the North Kensington
Community Centre.
