the Public Health Department. Mr. Hunt, one of the Council's
sanitary inspectors, was lent to the former department to
supervise certain duties, and progress was satisfactorily
maintained.
The Council's civil defence medical services,
which are controlled by the Public Health Department, carried
out their duties satisfactorily. Light rescue party men and
first aid post personnel have given valuable help in the
work of disinfection, rat destruction, day nurseries, etc.
The public health staff, both permanent and
temporary, have worked extremely well during the year under
difficult conditions, and they are grateful for the support
given by the Mayor, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the
Public Health Committee and all the members of the Council.
