The following are details of work carried out during the
year by the Rodent Officers in connection with the destruction
of rats and mice :
1. Treatment of Business and Private Premises.

---|---|---|
Number of visits | 336 | 3,380 |
Number of infestations found | 45 | 284 |
Number of treatments undertaken | 36 | 281 |
Number of pre-baits laid | 2,500 | |
Number of poison baits laid | 732 | |
Number of complaints received | 342 |
2. Sewer Maintenance Treatments.
No. of pre-baits laid | No. of poison baits laid | |
---|---|---|
No. 1 Treatment | 1,415 | 451 |
No. 2 Treatment | 1,240 | 311 |
There has been excellent co-operation from owners and
occupiers of premises where treatments have been carried out.
It is interesting to record that a large number of rat
infestations have been traced to defective frontage drains,
this being the section of drain between the interceptor and the
sewer, and such infestations have been completely eradicated on
reconstruction or repair of the defective drain.
