MASS RADIOGRAPHY
A Mobile Unit of the South West London Mass X-Ray Service
visited the Chenil Galleries, King's Road, from 9th to 21st
April, 1959. During this visit 4,233 people were x-rayed, of
whom seven were referred with radiological abnormalities suggestive
of clinically significant tuberculosis, and a further seven were
referred with radiological abnormalities suggestive of neoplasm
requiring further study. Included in the above total were 350 men
in the over 45 age group who are participating in the six-monthly
service for the detection of lung cancer.
During November, a Mobile Unit made the annual visit to the
Chelsea Polytechnic in Manresa Road.
The Mass X-Ray Centre at the Western Hospital, Seagrave Road,
Fulham, S.W.6. is open, without appointment, every Wednesday between
2.0 p.m. - 4.0 p.m., and 5.0 p.m. - 7.0 p.m., and is used by many
Chelsea residents.
PUBLIC MORTUARY FACILITIES.
A public mortuary has not been in existence within the
Borough for some years. An agreement has been effected with the
Hammersmith Borough Council whereby excellent facilities are
available at their mortuary in Fulham Palace Road. During 1959,
one hundred and ninety-five post-mortems were carried out in respect
of Chelsea residents.
