One hundred and twenty-six rases were notified (compared
with 655 in 1925), '26 being under one year of age, 70
from one to five, 29 from five to fifteen, and 1 from fifteen to
twenty-five, the districts concerned being East Greenwich 75;
West Greenwich, 25; St. Nicholas, 8; Charlton, 17; and
Kidbrooke, 1. Each of these cases was visited and leaflets and
instructions left, together with verbal advice respecting the
isolation and care of the patient.
Twenty-five cases were removed to Hospital for treatment.
Epidemic Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis, Cerebro-Spinal
Fever, or Post-Basal Meningitis.—There was only 1 case of
this disease notified during the year, this being a soldier notified
from the Herbert Hospital.
Acute Polio-Myelitis or Acute Polio-Encephalitis.—
There were 2 cases notified during the year, as compared with
4 cases in 1923, 1 in 1924, and 1 in 1925.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.—During the year 6 cases of
this disease have been notified, 1 being in East Greenwich, 1
in West Greenwich, and 4 in Charlton.

Malaria.—There were 8 cases of Malaria notified during
the year, 4 occurring in West Greenwich, 2 in East Greenwich,
and 2 in St. Nicholas, compared with 2 last year.
Encephalitis Lethargica.—There were 6 notifications of
cases of this disease. Three of the cases occurred in the eastern
part of the Borough, and 3 in the western. Five cases unfortunately
died—a very high percentage, as shewn below :-
