The principal conditions treated were Rickets, Under-weight,
Wasting, etc., and Anaemia. There were also the following cases :—
Convalescent from Infectious Diseases, Pre-tubercular, Premature
babies, Rheumatism, Congenital Heart, Enlarged Glands, Chronic
Bronchitis, Post Encephalitis, Pyelitis, Congenital Paralysis, Tonsils
and Adenoids.
The routine course of dosage for children commences from
three minutes, increasing approximately by one minute per week
according to the reaction. For adults, e.g. nursing and expectant
mothers, an initial dosage of six minutes increasing by three minutes
per week according to reaction.
There is no question whatever that definite improvement was
seen in the very large majority of cases, and this improvement was
not only confined to the particular conditions which were the
subject of treatment, but reports were received that young children
who were patients were more contented, got over teething difficulties
easier and slept better.
The following table gives the figures relating to the Centre in detail. It will be noticed that in addition to the patients referred from the Maternity and Child Welfare Centres, there were a certain number of Tuberculous cases which received treatment at different times.

The Centre was formally opened by the Mayor, Councillor
W. G. R. Ball, J.P., on September 24th, when many members of the
Council, together with other interested friends, had the opportunity
of seeing the lamps in operation and listening to an address by
Professor Leonard Hill.
It is interesting to notice that Metropolitan Boroughs as well
a-i a number of provincial councils are now proceeding to establish
an Artificial Sunlight Centre.
