Report on the health of the Metropolitan Borough of Battersea for the year 1927

Maternity and Child Welfare Centre, Latchmere Baths. The
Medical Officer attends one afternoon weekly from 2 to 4, and one
of the Health Visitors who has received instruction in this work
is also in attendance.
The report of the Medical Officer of Health on which the above
recommendation was made to the Council will be found in the
Appendix.

The following table shows the number of cases dealt with

from the date of the opening of the Clinic (5th October, 1927)

to the end of the year :—

Acute Polio-Myelitis.

There were 7 cases of acute Polio-Myelitis notified in Battersea

during 1927. There was 1 death from the disease.

The following table gives particulars of the cases of Polio-

myelitis notified in Battersea during the year:—

At the end of the year there were still under observation 29
ases, including 21 notified prior to 1927, of which 23 were of children
mder 5 years of age when notified.
All these cases were carefully enquired into and kept under
observation during the year. Of the 23 cases still under observation
in addition to the cases notified during the year, 11 were
* Immunity had not been completed in any of these cases by the end
of the year.
