Illegitimate Infant Deaths.
The death-rate amongst illegitimate children during 1927 was
89.9 per 1,000 births, as compared with 162.2 per 1,000 births in
1926, 113.2 in 1925, 148.1 in 1924 and 179.7 in 1923. The
corresponding death-rate of legitimate children in 1927 was 52.4,
the ratio of the mortality-rate of illegitimate infants to that of
legitimate being 1.7 to 1.
