Report on the Ultra-violet Ray Centre.
The Ultra-violet Ray treatment was started on 8th February, 1926,
in a room in the basement of the Town Hall, where two carbon arc
lamps had been temporarily installed. The lamp used is that known as
the "Sunray" lamp (current consumption 15 to 20 amperes), with
automatic feed and adjustments for raising or lowering the lamp to the
required height. One lamp only was used at first and only a small
number of patients were treated; the number was gradually increased
until on 31st December there were 185 on the register.
