Infantile Mortality.
There were 78 deaths in 1950 of Camberwell children under
one year of age, 55 of which were neo-natal deaths (i.e. death
occurring before reaching the age of one month). Although the
infantile mortality rate of 27 was slightly higher than that for
the previous year, it must be remembered that the figure of
24 infant deaths per 1,000 live births which was recorded that
year, was the lowest ever reached in Camberwell.

Maternal Mortality.
There were only two maternal deaths during 1950 giving a
maternal mortality rate of 0.6 per 1,000 total births, this is the
lowest figure ever recorded in Camberwell.
