INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES OF
VACCINATION AND INOCULATION
At the request of the Ministry of Health and in order to comply
with the International Sanitary Regulations 89 certificates were dealt
with during the year.
FOOD HYGIENE REGULATIONS, 1955
Most of the provisions of these Regulations came into force on
1st January, 1956, and the remainder on 1st July, 1956.
In order to gain the co-operation of the food and catering industries
in the Borough, all were invited to attend a meeting held in
February, 1956, at which the provisions of the Regulations were
discussed in detail and the opportunity given to raise questions.
In addition, all food premises were visited by the Public Health
Inspectors and advice given on the requirements of the Regulations.
During the year written intimation of requirements under the
Regulations was given in respect of 196 premises.

Twelve additional pitches were created during the year to cope
with the continuing demand. At the end of 1956 there were 205
traders licensed of whom 170 were dealers in antiques and similar
commodities.
