Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1930

(2) Supply confinement outfits.
(3) Arrange from time to time for their lady medical officers to
attend post-graduate courses in connection particularly
with ante-natal work.
The scheme was first put into operation on the 14th December,
1929, the Borough Council paying the whole fee of the midwife
and providing the outfit free. Following instructions from the
Ministry of Health, the scheme was modified and from the 14th
March, 1930 all cases have been assessed according to an approved
scale.

The subjoined figures are for the complete year and show:—

An arrangement has now been made and an agreement concluded
with the Governors of Guy's Hospital, whereby each case
on the Guy's Extern District shall be attended by a midwife
(acting as a maternity nurse) as well as by a senior student.
This arrangement comes into force on the Ist January, 1931.
