Dr. Hill's Report on the Ante-Natal Clinic.
There has been a considerable increase in the number of attendances
at the Ante-Natal Centre during the year, and the arrangements
in this connection have shown some development. The Ante-Natal
Clinic is held at the Napier Street Mission Hall on Tuesday and
Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12.30 or 1 p.m. Expectant mothers enter
by the hall where perambualtors, sometimes toddlers, are left, and pass
into the smaller hall where a Health Visitor writes the names in a
register, fills in particulars on their card and tests specimens of urine.
As time allows, or opportunity occurs, she gives advice to mothers as
to the care of their health, preparations for their confinement and the
making of babies' clothes, etc. The mothers then go three or four at
a time into a further room to get ready in turn to see the doctor. The
