These were all voluntarily surrendered. The conditions imposed by
the Ministry of Food and the establishment of fixed prices removed the
temptation to which some traders are exposed, of endeavouring to sell
unsound food.
Part of the butter and bacon was returned under precautions to the
wholesalers. The remainder of the foods was destroyed.
SALE OF FOOD AND DRUGS ACTS.
During the year the Sanitary Inspectors collected 593 samples under
the above Acts, and submitted them to the Public Analyst for analysis
Of the number submitted 32 or 5 per cent, were reported as adulterated.
