PUBLIC HEALTH (ACUTE ENCEPHALITIS LETHARGICA AND
ACUTE POLIO-ENCEPHALITIS) REGULATIONS, 1919—
GENERAL ORDER.
The above-mentioned Order extends the operation of the Public Health (Acute
Encephalitis Lethargica and Acute Polio-Encephalitis) Regulations, 1918, which
required the notification by Medical Practitioners of cases of these diseases throughout
England and Wales during 1919. This new Order requires the continuation of
notification until the Ministry of Health otherwise directs.
NOTIFICATION OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE (LONDON)
REGULATIONS, 1920.
The above Eegulations, which came into operation on the 1st May, 1920,
extend the provisions of Section 55, Sub-section 4 of the Public Health (London) Act,
1891, to embrace those infectious diseases known as Acute Primary Pneumonia, Acute
Influenzal Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, Trench Fever, Acute Encephalitis
Lethargica and Ophthalmia Neonatorum. It is now, therefore, necessary that a copy
of each certificate or notification of cases of these diseases be sent to the Metropolitan
Asylums Board within twelve hours after receipt by the Medical Officer of Health.
The Metropolitan Asylums Board will repay to the Local Authority the fee usually paid
in respect of such notification.
TUBERCULOSIS.
TUBERCULOSIS DISPENSARY.—The Tuberculosis Dispensary has been open
for the reception of new patients and for the attendance of old cases, on Tuesdays and
Fridays from 12.30 to 2.30, and on Thursdays from 6 to 7; also for the attendance
of old cases on Mondays from 5 to 7. In all the Dispensary has been open 204 times
during the year.

NEW PATIENTS.—The number of persons, including contacts, who were examined for the first time at or in connection with, the Dispensary was 244, divided thus:—

Many of the persons diagnosed as not suffering from Tuberculosis were found
to be suffering from other diseases, for which they were advised to seek treatment
elsewhere.
