During the year 57 cases have received Specific treatment
either with Tuberculin or Spenglers I.K. Owing to the War it
has been impossible to obtain the latter for some time, and consequently
its use has been very strictly limited.
The results of Tuberculin have been on the whole satisfactory,
in some cases markedly so, but the number of cases suitable for
this treatment is limited, as so many of those who might benefit
by it are well enough to work and therefore cannot attend regularly.
The condition of those cases treated with Tuberculin and I.K.,
and marked in last year's Report as "recovered," eight in number,
is satisfactory, so far there being no relapse.
Treatment by autogenous vaccines has been given to a very
few selected cases, in all 13 in number. Almost in every case the
result has been good. In two the attendances made were not
regular enough to get as good results as were expected. Two
definite cases of Pulmonary Tuberculosis treated by vaccines for
secondary infection, have been practically restored to health.
Two others of doubtful diagnosis as regards tuberculosis were
treated by vaccines with the consent of their medical attendant
and have completely recovered. The others have all derived
much benefit.
