Customs and Inland Revenue Acts.
During the year applications for certificates under these Acts were
received in respect of 6 dwellings. The total number of dwellings in
relation to which certificates were issued was 4.
Smoke Nuisances.
During the year observations were made in 56 instances by the
Sanitary Inspectors and 2 notices were necessary to be served.
Public Mortuary.
During the year the bodies of 56 persons were brought to the
mortuary—31 by order of the Coroner, 12 by the Police, and 13 at
the request of friends of deceased persons. In 30 instances inquests
were held, and in 25 instances postmortem examinations were made
and inquests followed. The following table indicates the causes of
death of the persons whose bodies were received into the Mortuary.

In addition to these 54 bodies, the fœtal bodies of two male
children wore also brought to the Mortuary.
Disinfecting Station.
During the year 1,589 houses or parts of houses were disinfected,
together with their contents, while in addition all infected articles of
clothing, &c., were suitably dealt with.
Premises and Occupations which can be controlled by
Bye-laws or Regulations.
