Town Ward Scheme.
On 20th December, 1917, I represented 75 premises in the Town
Ward to the London County Council under Tart I of the Housing of the
Working Classes Act, 1890, In March, 1918, a reply was received
from the County Council referring to my representation as to the unhealthy
condition of houses in nine separate areas in the Town Ward
and stating that they were not prepared to undertake a scheme for the
improvement of the areas under Part I of the Act of 1890, as, in their
opinion, the size and condition of the areas were not such as to be considered
as being of general importance to the County and that the areas
could be dealt with in a more satisfactory manner than by means of a
scheme under Part I. This reply of the London County Council was
reported to the Borough Council on May 9th, who resolved:—
