concerned was sufficiently discouraging to the person, and
he did not continue his operations in this Borough. In
any future legislation on the subject of milk and milk
products it would be advisable that attention should be
drawn to this matter.
One of the warranties which was proved in one of the
cases was of a somewhat peculiar character, having apparently
been drawn up specially to provide for any possible
prosecution under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts,
but to have no validity for any other purpose, being
somewhat as follows:—
"The Purchaser hereby agrees to buy and the Vendor
agrees to sell from March, 1910, to April, 1911, but
without accepting any responsibility after delivery, the
whole of the supply of milk required in the Purchaser's
business. The milk to be pure and unskimmed as from
the cow, and free from preservatives."
Of the total number of samples, 27 were taken in
course of, and at the place of delivery, by an Officer of
this Council direct, of which number 7 were certified to
be adulterated; 20 were bought by an Officer of the
Council direct, 1 of which was adulterated; the remaining
353 samples were taken by agents employed by the
Officers of this Council, and a small number of samples
not included in the above were taken in an informal
manner.
