Small-pox and Chicken-pox.
During the early part of the year an outbreak of small-pox occurred
in East London, chiefly confined to Stepney, and in view of the possible
spread of the disease the London County Council made chicken-pox a
notifiable disease in the County of London for three months from March
22nd. The outbreak of small-pox, however, was soon got under control and
died out. No case occurred in Hampstead. The total number of cases
of chicken-pox notified in Hampstead during the three months was 58.
Vaccination.
The table below gives some idea of the working of the Vaccination
Act in Hampstead since 1900. I am indebted to the Vaccination Officer
for the statistics in this table.
