These late notifications are of very little public health value. A
good deal of the mischief has already been done before the cases
came under the purview of the Public Health Department.
Deaths.—In 1913, the number of Finsbury persons who died of
phthisis or consumption of the lungs was 151, as against 160 in
the previous year; in addition to these, 33 died from tuberculous
meningitis, and 30 from other forms of tuberculosis. The deaths
from all forms of tuberculosis were 214. The corresponding
number for 1912 was 204.

It will be observed that the deaths and death rate this year are
less than in 1912, and are both less than they have been since the
Borough was formed.
