School Cases.—There is an increase in the number of nonnotifiable
infectious diseases reported by the schools, the total for 1911
being 956, as compared with 857 in 1910. There is still a great
variation in the number of children notified by the different schools, as
is shown by the following table.
In most cases the homes are visited, and advice is given to the
parent, when there is no medical practitioner in attendance. Information
is also given to the various schools, if there are contacts continuing
to attend school, who have not suffered from the disease notified.
