But there have also been changes in the boundaries of the sub-
districts which have introduced still further difficulties in drawing
comparisons between the various sub-districts of the Borough in
1911 and 1901.

The number of births registered in Camberwell was 6,342,
and to this we must add 57, representing infants whose mothers
were inhabitants of the Borough, although the births themselves
took place outside its boundaries. Owing to the impossibility in all
cases of allocating these Births to the proper registration districts,
as we are not always aware of the previous address of the
mothers, it has been found that a certain proportion have to be
treated as a class apart, and the various districts have to be credited
with them in the same proportion as they are with the unclassified
deaths.
