Early in May, 1909, on the recommendation of the Health
Committee the Council resolved to adopt a system of voluntary
notification of the disease in Battersea, and a few notifications
have been received from Brompton Hospital through the Medical
Officer of the London County Council. During the year voluntary
notification certificates of 130 cases of phthisis in Battersea were
received.

In the following table are set out particulars as regards age periods and distribution in the sub-districts and Wards, of the notifications, both voluntary and compulsory, of pulmonary phthisis during 1909 :—
