DAIRIES, COWSHEDS AND MILKSHOPS.
Cowhouses.—The number of licensed cowkeepers in the
Borough has further decreased during the past year. At the end
of 1910 they numbered 19, with 26 cowsheds. This is a reduction
of two licenses and two sheds on the previous year. Inspector Bobbitt
reports 251 visits of inspection made to these premises during the
year. He served one intimation notice for certain repairs. On the
17th September, 1910, the Public Health Committee made
their annual visit to the cowhouses in the Borough. These were
found to be in a satisfactory condition, both as to repair and cleanliness,
with the exception of two cowhouses, one of which had a
defective roof and the other was dirty. The roof was repaired and
the necessary cleansing done subsequently on the service of a
notice.
Dairies and Milkshops.—During the past year 37 milk premises
were removed from the register and 26 new milk premises
added, thus making the total on the register at the end of last year
351. The proprietors of milk premises have been changed in 113
instances. Inspector Bobbitt made 1,475 visits of inspection to
milk premises during the year, and discovered dirty utensils in 21
cases. Dirty and defective premises were discovered in eight instances.
The cleansing and repairs were duly effected on the service of
notices.
Offensive Trades.—There was only one offensive trade premises
in Hackney at the end of 1910, i.e., a tripe boiler. Inspector Bobbitt
made 17 visits of inspection to these premises during 1910, but did
not find it necessary to serve any notice during the year.
Slaughter-houses.—There were 21 licensed slaughter-houses in
the Borough at the end of 1910. Inspector Bobbitt reports that
he made 334 visits of inspection to these premises during 1910.
He found nuisances, or defects, on four of these, which were remedied
on the service of notices.
