12
Deaths.—The deaths registered in the Borough during 1910
numbered 2,878, but of these 506 were deaths of non-residents, that
is of persons belonging to other districts but dying in Institutions
in the Borough. On the other hand, there were 450 deaths of
Hackney residents in Institutions outside the Borough. Making
the necessary corrections by subtracting 503 from and adding 450
to the total 2,878 we obtain the correct number of deaths amongst
Hackney residents during 1910, namely 2,822. This total shows a
decline of 306 deaths upon the number of deaths registered during
1910. The crude general death-rate from all causes for the year 1910
is therefore 11.8 per 1,000 of the estimated population. On
correcting this for age and sex distribution by means of the factor
1.04262, I obtain for the Borough the corrected general death-rate
of 12.3 per 1,000 of the population. The corrected general
mortality rate for 1909 was 13.7, so the rate for 1910 is 1.4 per
1,000 living less than in the former year.

Amongst the sub-districts the death rate was lowest in the north sub-district (10.4 per 1,000) and highest in the south-east sub-district (12.7 per 1,000).
