INQUESTS.
The inquests held numbered 260. Seventy-nine
persons died violent deaths, of whom fifteen committed
suicide.
SUICIDES.
A woman, aged 43, hanged herself in a cell at Bethnal
Green Road Police Station; the wife of a shoemaker,
aged 74, a hair pad maker, aged 64, and a boot laster,
aged 41, also hanged themselves; a coal merchant, aged
54, strangled himself; the wife of a wood carver, aged
63, starved herself to death; a painter, aged 53, cut his
throat; a chairmaker, aged 57, drowned himself in the
river Lea ; and three men and two women took poison.
