BIRTH RATE.
The births actually registered during the year
numbered 3,999, but as previously mentioned I have
received information of 133 infants born of Bethnal
Green mothers in Maternity Institutions in various
parts of London.
These births raise the total to 4,132, equal to a rate
of 31.47 per thousand population. This rate is slightly
below that of the previous year which was 32.61.
The general Metropolitan birth rate continues to
decrease and stands at 24.4, the lowest on record.
