Sale of Food and Drugs Acts.
The number of samples taken for analysis under the Sale of Food
and Drugs Acts during the year was 506, and the number certified by
the Public Analyst to be adulterated was 12, or 2.3 per cent. of the total
number. The corresponding percentage in 1909 was 3.9; in 1908 it
was 3'5. In addition, 17 samples were certified to be of low quality.
402 samples were purchased from Hampstead tradesmen, and 104
from persons residing without, but trading within, the Borough. The
percentages of adulterated samples in these two classes were 1.9 and 3.8
respectively.
Seventeen samples were taken on Ilampstead Ileath on Bank
Holidays, and of these 4, or 23.5 per cent, were adulterated, and one was
of poor quality.
Forty-five samples were taken on Sundays ; one of this number was
found to be adulterated and two were of low quality.
