and the magistrate made an order for the necessary work to be carried
out within 14 days, allowing the Council 12s. 6d. costs. The occupier
decided to discontinue the use of the slaughterhouse rather than carry
out the alterations, and the place has not been used for slaughtering
since January, 1910.
Milk Supply.
The number of persons registered as purveyors of milk at the end
of 1909 was 93, and the number of premises on which milk is sold was
115. The difference in the two numbers is accounted for by the fact
that some of the milk sellers occupy more than one shop.
The premises on which milk is sold are as follows:—

Four of the registered milk sellers do not occupy shops, two being
registered in reference to refreshment tents on Hampstead Heath on
Bank Holidays, and two have milk rounds in the Borough but no shops.
During the year 310 inspections were made of premises where milk is sold, and the following works were carricd out:—
