In 1902 a system of voluntary notification of Phthisis was
adopted in Hampstead, and on January 1st, 1909, the Public Health
(Tuberculosis) Regulations of the Local Government Board, which
provide for the compulsory notification of cases of Phthisis occurring
in Poor Law patients, came into operation. The following table gives
the number of patients notified in each year since 1902:—
