The cases occurred in 269 houses, as under:—

Isolation.—294, or 91.3 per cent. of those suffering from the
disease were removed to hospital.
Fatality.—39 cases terminated fatally, giving a case
mortality of 12.1 per cent., or 14.1 per cent. if the thirty-eight
be deducted, which were subsequently ascertained not to be
cases of diphtheria, the fatality being greater than in any year
since 1898.
Distribution of Cases.
The subjoined table gives the number of cases notified in
the several wards of the borough since 1899, per 10,000 of the
population, and in the appendix will be found the streets in
which the cases and deaths occurred in 1909.
