Hygienic condition of homes:—
83 of the 820 homes were very dirty.
167 „ ,, „ dirty.
In 250 (i.e., 30 per cent.), therefore, there was more or less
evidence of neglect of cleanly habits.
Health of children at birth:—
Of the 820 infants visited at their homes, the conditions as
regards health were ascertained to be as follows :
235 were at the time they were visited more or less seriously
ill.
Of these 820 infants, information as to the feeding was obtained
with regard to 711:—
Breast-fed only 569
Infants' milk depot 91
Cow's milk 24
Breast and other food 27
