Diarrhœa.
During the year 1908 the number of deaths from Diarrhoea
registered in the Borough of Battersea was 89, as compared with
47 in 1907. Forty of these deaths were registered as being due
to Epidemic or Zymotic Enteritis. The death rate was 0.48 per
1,000, or 0.28 below the decennial average, 0.76. The death rate
in the County of London was 0.53. Of the 89 deaths, 83 (i.e., 93
per cent.) were of children under 5 years of age, and 72 (i.e., 80
per cent.) of infants under 1 year of age. During 1907, 47 deaths
from Diarrhoea were registered, of which 36 (i.e., 76 per cent.)
were of infants under 1 year.
