MORTALITY FROM THE SEVERAL ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
Small Pox.
Only one death from this disease was registered as against an average of
slightly over one in the preceding ten years. In the report for 1899 a statement
was made which showed the deaths in quinquennial periods since 1856, which
showed that previously and up to 1885 this disease was very fatal, but that since
the latter period they have not averaged two per annum.

The deaths in the Borough during the preceding ten years were:—

MEASLES.
There were 159 deaths from Measles registered, as compared with an average
of 192 in the preceding ten years. These deaths were equal to a death-rate of 0•45
per 1,000.
