I have forwarded to the Home Office the addresses of 124 workshops and laundries (where 408
females were employed) which had not been previously visited by H. M. Inspectors of Factories and
Workshops.
The system of registering by cards, which has been adopted during the year, has simplified the
keeping of the register very considerably. The constant erasures and alterations, necessitated by the
frequent changes of workshop premises and of occupiers, made the book register complicated and
untidy. Now, cards can be added or withdrawn when necessary, and the register kept up to date
with ease.

The following table shows the trades which are carried on in the various workplaces:—
