The total weight of meat and offal destroyed within the slaughterhouses was 22,822 lbs.,
making a total of 18 tons 8 cwts 2 qrs. 2 lbs. of unsound food destroyed within the Borough
during the year.
Knackers' Yards.
The knacker's yard, York Road, has been regularly visited. Improvements on the premises and
plant at a cost of over £500 have been made during the year. That this has resulted in diminishing
if not actually abolishing any nuisance that previously existed is proved by the absence of
any complaint from the residents in the neighbourhood. The London County Council, at
their Licensing Court in October, made it a condition on the renewal of the licence that the
business should in future be conducted on the "Close Chamber System."
Cowsheds and Offensive Trades.
The inspection of the cowsheds and the offensive trades is now to be conducted by the
Borough officials, but as these duties have only commenced I defer making any remarks on their
present condition.
Before closing this report I beg to thank you for the kind advice so willingly given at all
times. I also desire to thank the Chief Inspector and the District Inspectors for their kind
assistance.
Your obedient servant,
T. DUNLOP YOUNG,
Inspector of Meat, &c.
