The value of the bacteriological laboratory to the Ratepayers is
proved, and a large saving has been effected since its establishment.
Had Lambeth followed the example of the other
Metropolitan Boroughs and arranged for the bacteriological work
of the Borough to be done by a Private Firm or Institution, the
cost to the Borough for the last 5 years (allowing 5/- per examination)
would have been ;£640 5s. 0d., or an annual average cost of
£128 1s. Od.
