During the year under review 458 samples were examined.
See Table A).
Sixty-nine, or 15.0 per cent. of the 458 samples submitted
were adulterated.
This must be considered a high percentage, and is
possibly due to the small number of samples taken in previous
years. (See Table B.)
The consideration of Table C. emphasizes this opinion.
It shows that the highest percentage of adulteration (23.4 per
cent.) occurred during the first quarter, and diminished as the
work progressed, only 8.8 per cent. being recorded in the fourth
quarter-
