equivalent to a birth-rate of 27.6 per 1,000, the birth-rate for the
Borough being 213 per 1,000. Eight deaths of residents of the
Buildings have occurred during the year, equivalent to a death-rate of
10 5 per 1,000, the death-rate of the Borough being 149 per 1,000.

The 2 deaths of infants under one year of age are equivalent to a
rate of 95 per 1,000 births (Chelsea 116).
Eight cases of scarlet fever were notified in the Buildings during
the year, but not any of diphtheria, enteric fever, or other notifiable
disease.
Onslow Dwellings.
The following statement shows the income of and expenditure on
Onslow Dwellings during the year ended 31st March, 1905:—

In July, 1905, the Borough Council, on a report from the Housing
Committee, resolved that certain structural alterations and improvements
to the Dwellings should be carried out, as recommended by the architects,
Messrs. Joseph and Smithem, who reported, as a result of a survey they
were instructed to make, that the stone balconies giving access to the
various tenements required strengthening, whilst the end wall of one of
the Blocks would have to be underpinned and repaired owing to settlement.
The buildings having been erected about the year 1860, and having
been in continued occupation since that date by working class tenants,
