During the year 582 workshops have been placed upon the
register, each of these, together with those already under inspection,
has been visited at least twice during the year with
the following results :-
Eighty-two workshops were cleansed and repaired under notice;
fourteen were provided with proper water supply; overcrowding
was abated in six; the ventilation was improved in twelve; and
forty-six w.c.'s were cleansed and repaired.
In thirty-seven instances workshops (other than domestic workshops)
were visited, and, though either women or young persons were
found to be employed, no abstract of the Act was affixed. All
these were duly reported to H.M. Inspector as required by
Section 133 of the Factory and Workshops Act of 1901.
