The standard of air space laid down is much too small,
considering that the places are now to all intents and purposes
permanent dwellings. A set of revised bye-laws, embodying
the most useful provisions of the old bye-laws has been drafted
by the Council and submitted to the Local Government Board
for sanction. The Board have these proposed bye-laws under
consideration at the time of writing.

The common lodging houses are under the control of the
London County Council, but they are visited from time to time
by the officers of the Sanitary Authority in connection with
drainage defects, cases of infectious disease, etc.
